You must be registered with the Ishikawa Prefectural Library in order to borrow materials from the collection or reserve materials to borrow over the Internet.

1. Registration

To register, you must fulfill one of the following preconditions:

  1. be a resident of Ishikawa Prefecture
  2. work at a business located in Ishikawa Prefecture
  3. go to a school located in Ishikawa Prefecture
  4. be an inhabitant of the Tokai Hokuriku region (Mie, Aichi, Gifu, Fukui or Toyama Prefectures).
You must provide proof of your identity, such as
  1. ID card or student ID card
  2. residence card
  3. ID card for health insurance or mutual aid society
  4. driver's license
Applying in person
    Please bring your proof of identification to the Main Desk at Ishikawa Prefectural Library. A library card will be issued to you on the same day.
Applying by mail
Please mail the following three items to the Circulation Section in Ishikawa Prefectural Library. (Kanazawa-shi, Honda-machi 3-2-15, 920-0964; Ph: 076-223-9580, Japanese only)
  1. A printed copy of the Library Card Application(Japanese)PDF, with necessary information filled out
  2. One copy of a document that proves your identity
  3. A self-addressed stamped envelope (252 for "tokutei kiroku yubin," proof of delivery)

2. Borrowing and Reserving Materials


One person may borrow up to 10 books for three weeks, including materials from the "Reference Floor" and the "Children's Floor."
One person may reserve up to 15 books.

3. Interlibrary Loans
Materials that are not available in the Prefectural Library's collection may be ordered from other libraries. Please apply through the Prefectural Library's Reference Section.
Be aware of the following points:
  1. Rules on what type of materials you can check out (circulating) and what type must be used within the library (non-circulating) vary.
  2. The borrower may be responsible for the postage on materials outside of Ishikawa Prefecture.

4. Reference Services
A librarian can help you with your study and research needs.
  1. We can recommend essential books for study and research work and assist in finding books.
  2. We will answer simple questions concerning general information and research based on available data.

5. Copying Services
The library copies material in line with Article 31 of the Copyright Law of Japan.
  1. We will copy any published data within this library's collection.
  2. For the purpose of personal study or research, the library will furnish one copy of a part (half or less) of a copyrighted work or all of an individual copyrighted work included in a periodical published a considerable time before.
  3. One copy is permitted per person. (Multiple copies will not be provided.)
  4. The copying fee is 10 yen per monochrome copy, 50 yen per color copy, 30 yen per microfilm.
